“Dieting” this word has gained undue attention today in all cultures. Though dieting means planning one's eating habits and executing that plan to meet a specific health condition, dieting is often associated with weight loss. One may get into dieting due to physical ailments, religious reasons often called fasting, gaining weight, losing weight and so on. For instance people with high blood pressure should be dieting as much as the one with blood sugar and it is not only over weighing people who should be dieting.

Is Dieting Effective ?

There are many misconceptions regarding dieting. Dieting does not mean skipping your meals; dieting on the contrary means eating properly, at the right time, right quantity and right type of food that will help you achieve the result you desire. In your over enthusiasm do not frustrate yourself with self imposed rigidity. This will only lead to the failure of your dieting results by pushing you to craving. Another unbelievable misconception is that drinking water will contribute to over weight; on the contrary when you are dieting drink plenty of water to save yourself from dehydration. Few others wrongly believe dieting is all about eating less. You might be eating less but what ever you are consuming might have high fat and calorie value. So you need to be calorie conscious in your food habits.

For any dieting program to be effective there are other factors that need to be looked at. Learn other ways of supporting your dieting. Learn to distract yourself when you catch yourself craving for food. Learn when your craving is at its peak. For some it would be while watching, for some when they are depressed and for some when they like to celebrate something. Occasional indulgence will not fail you in dieting as long as you fall addict to your craving. Taking a good walk could be one of the effective ways of escaping from your food craving. This does not only distracts you but it also helps your lose excess fat thus complementing your dieting. If you are dieting to lose weight, then it must be accompanied by regular of physical exercise to enhance the result.
